You will curate, manage, and present our wine list with expertise and passion, offering personalized recommendations and impeccable service. Primary Responsibilities Include:
* Curating, updating, and managing the restaurant's extensive wine list, ensuring a diverse selection that complements the menu and caters to guest preferences
* Providing expert and personalized recommendations to guests on wine pairings, taking into consideration their tastes, budget, and meal choices
* Assisting guests with the selection of spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages as requested
* Performing professional wine service, including proper decanting, opening, and pouring techniques, adhering to the highest standards
* Maintaining accurate inventory of all wines, spirits, and cigars, conducting regular stock checks and placing orders as needed
* Ensuring the wine cellar and storage areas are meticulously organized and maintained at optimal conditions for preservation
* Collaborating closely with the Chef de Cuisine to understand menu changes and develop appropriate wine pairings
* Handling guest inquiries and feedback regarding beverages with professionalism and expertise
* Staying abreast of current wine trends, regions, and vintages through continuous learning and industry engagement
Requirements
What You Bring:
* Proven experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel setting
* Recognized Sommelier certification (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, AIS) is highly preferred
* Profound and extensive knowledge of wines from various regions, vintages, spirits, beers, and cigars
* Exceptional palate and strong sensory evaluation skills
* Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests confidently and eloquently
* A true passion for wine and the art of pairing
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory management and cellar maintenance
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced dining environment
* Fluent in English and Italian (both written and spoken). Knowledge of additional languages is a significant advantage
* Impeccable personal presentation and a sophisticated, professional demeanor
