Job Outline:
The prime responsibility of the role is to drive business development activities for Automotive & Transportation customers within the assigned sales region in EMEA, aligning with the strategy defined by the Sales Manager Automotive & Transportation EMEA and company goals.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will identify, develop, and expand new and existing opportunities, focusing on strategic customer engagement, design‑in activity, and revenue growth. The role requires close collaboration with regional sales teams, technical resources, and key supplier partners to ensure consistent execution of the business plan.
The BDM is a market champion and subject‑matter expert within the sales region, with primary metrics of sales, profitability and demand creation, and network share.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, and develop new Automotive & Transportation business opportunities within the assigned sales region in line with the agreed business plan.
- Drive design‑in and demand creation activities by working closely with Field Sales, Inside Sales, and Technical teams.
- Execute the sales strategy at a regional and account level.
- Actively manage key target accounts with structured penetration plans.
- Support regional sales teams through coaching, opportunity reviews, and joint customer visits.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and automotive‑focused suppliers.
- Ensure accurate CRM opportunity and project data management.
- Monitor regional sales performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide market, customer, and competitor feedback to management.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of automotive technologies and trends.
- Support marketing and demand creation initiatives.
- Additional projects or duties as management may require.
Qualifications:
- Degree level education, proven experience in business development or sales within the electronics distribution industry; automotive & transportation experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of the market, customer ecosystem, and competitive landscape within the assigned region.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
- Commercially astute, highly organized, with strong analytical capability and attention to detail.
- Customer‑centric, committed to service excellence.
- Proven ability to operate effectively within a matrix organization, balancing priorities and stakeholders.
