Job Summary
The Senior Solutions Architect, Automotive Connectivity is a strategic technical role at the intersection of automotive engineering, telecommunications, cloud platforms, and IoT. You will serve as the primary technical counterpart to automotive OEM engineering and IT teams, translating Aeris platform capabilities into compelling, architecturally sound solutions that address OEM connectivity challenges.
This is not a traditional pre-sales engineering role. You will operate as a technical strategist — shaping how Aeris engages with OEMs, influencing product direction, creating differentiated technical narratives, and building the technical foundation for long-term OEM partnerships.
You will work across two Aeris business units (Automotive Business Unit and IoT Business Unit), requiring fluency in multiple platform architectures and the ability to compose cross-platform solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales Engagement
* Serve as the lead technical resource in OEM pre-sales engagements, RFI/RFP responses, solution presentations, and architecture workshops
* Design and present solution architectures that map Aeris capabilities to OEM connectivity requirements
* Develop and deliver compelling technical demonstrations, proofs of concept, and pilot designs
* Engage directly with OEM technical stakeholders including connectivity architects, telematics engineers, platform engineering leads, cybersecurity teams, and procurement
Solution Architecture & Design
* Architect end-to-end connected vehicle solutions spanning connectivity management, eSIM lifecycle management (SGP.22/SGP.32), device management, data ingestion, and vehicle operations
* Design integration architectures connecting Aeris platforms (AMP, Neo, Watchtower) with OEM backend systems, TSPs, MNOs, and cloud environments
* Define and document technical solution proposals, integration specifications, and architecture decision records
* Evaluate and recommend approaches for multi-MNO strategies, regional connectivity models, and roaming optimization
Product Strategy Support
* Translate OEM technical requirements and competitive gaps into structured product requirements and recommendations
* Collaborate with Product Management to prioritize automotive-specific platform enhancements
* Maintain a living competitive technical analysis covering key competitors (Harman Ignite, Ericsson, Cisco/Kigen, G+D, Thales, etc.)
* Identify emerging technology trends (SDV, vehicle-to-cloud, Android Automotive, zonal architectures) and assess implications for Aeris product strategy
Knowledge Development & Enablement
* Develop and maintain a technical knowledge base for Automotive Connectivity including solution architectures, reference designs, integration patterns, competitive comparisons, and technical FAQ
* Create reusable technical assets: solution briefs, architecture diagrams, demo scripts, white papers, and technical blog content
* Enable broader Sales and Sales Engineering teams on automotive connectivity concepts, Aeris differentiators, and OEM engagement best practices
* Document OEM-specific technical landscapes, integration requirements, and architecture preferences
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with Service Delivery and Professional Services teams to ensure solution designs are implementable and supportable
* Partner with the Automotive Connectivity Strategy Lead to align technical positioning with business strategy
* Support Marketing with technically grounded content for thought leadership, analyst engagements, and conference presentations
* Participate in industry standards discussions and working groups as appropriate (GSMA, 5GAA, etc.)
Experience
Minimum Requirements
* 8+ years in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, systems engineering, or technical consulting
* 3+ years working in or with the automotive industry — specifically connected vehicles, telematics, V2X, or automotive connectivity
* Direct experience with eSIM technologies (SGP.02, SGP.22, SGP.32) — architecture, provisioning flows, and ecosystem participants (SM-DP+, SM-DS, eIM, ECS, LPA)
* Experience with connectivity management platforms and/or IoT platform architectures
* Demonstrated experience engaging with enterprise or OEM technical stakeholders at the architecture and engineering level
* Experience with MNO ecosystems, MVNO models, roaming, and multi-carrier connectivity strategies
Technical Skills
* Strong understanding of cellular technologies (4G/LTE, 5G NR, network slicing, private networks)
* Proficiency in cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including API design, microservices, event-driven architectures, and data pipelines
* Familiarity with vehicle electrical/electronic architectures — TCUs, head units, gateways, zonal controllers
* Working knowledge of automotive protocols and standards (MQTT, SOME/IP, UDS, OBD, CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet)
* Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks relevant to automotive (ISO 21434, UNECE WP.29 R155/R156)
* Experience with data analytics, observability, or AIOps concepts (relevant to Watchtower positioning)
Soft Skills
* Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineering and business audiences
* Strong written communication — capable of producing white papers, technical proposals, and executive-ready documentation
* Self-directed and autonomous — comfortable operating with strategic guidance rather than detailed task management
* Intellectually curious — proactive about learning new domains, technologies, and industry dynamics
* Effective cross-functional collaborator — able to influence without authority across Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Sales teams
Preferred Requirements
* Experience working for or directly with a Tier 1 automotive OEM (Toyota, VW Group, Stellantis, Hyundai/Kia, Renault, etc.) or a Tier 1 supplier (Bosch, Continental, Harman, LG, Denso)
* Familiarity with GSMA specifications and the connected vehicle ecosystem (RSP, M2M, Consumer architectures)
* Experience with OTA update platforms and software-defined vehicle concepts
* Background in fleet management, telematics service providers (TSPs), or connected vehicle platforms
* Experience with regulatory and compliance frameworks for connected vehicles (data privacy, type approval, regional homologation)
* Exposure to AI/ML applications in automotive operations, predictive maintenance, or anomaly detection
Why Aeris?
* A front-row seat at the intersection of automotive engineering, IoT, and telecommunications
* Real influence over product direction, not just client engagements
* Autonomy to shape how Aeris positions itself with the world’s leading OEMs
* A collaborative, cross-functional environment where technical depth is genuinely valued
* The opportunity to work on problems that are shaping the future of connected vehicles
