Experteer Overview
As a Global Category Manager for Cables, you will shape the procurement strategy for a fast-growing category across Europe and beyond. You’ll lead end-to-end sourcing, supplier performance, and contract management while embedding sustainability and supplier diversity into the strategy. You will work with cross-functional partners to drive value, mitigate risk, and ensure alignment with global procurement goals. This role offers meaningful impact through continuous improvement, cost reductions, and resilient supplier networks.
Responsibilities
* Lead the global cables category, developing strategic sourcing plans to deliver cost savings and long-term value across Europe
* Manage end-to-end procurement activities: KPI definition, supplier performance, contract negotiations, and compliance tracking
* Drive make-or-buy decisions, improvement programs, and supplier development to boost efficiency and competitiveness
* Integrate sustainability, ESG, and supplier diversity into procurement strategy
* Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships (SRM) for resilience, quality, and innovation
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and guide local strategic buyers to align with global goals
* Forecast industry trends and disruptions, enabling de-risking and alignment with product taxonomy to sub-tiers
* Run category project calls with cross-functional teams and establish a Corporate Category Council
* Support continuous improvement with year-on-year productivity gains in Quality, Service Levels, Delivery, and Cost
* Analyze spend data and present actionable insights to stakeholders
* Ensure all suppliers have up-to-date Corporate Supply Agreements (CSA), owned by the incumbent
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Business, Supply Chain or Engineering)
* Material control systems and processes background
* Strong preference for experience managing Cable categories and knowledge of their manufacturing processes
* Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers/service providers with evidenced cost reductions
* Experience partnering with Global Business units in Americas, EMEA, APAC
* Ability to establish credibility quickly and influence across the organization
* Strong influence, communication and change management skills in a matrix environment
* Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%
