Our client is a well-established and highly respected international organisation with a strong footprint in Italy and across Europe. We’re looking for a Financial Controller to lead the accounting operations in Italy. Reporting to the Head of Finance – Italy, with a dotted line to the Regional Financial Controller – Europe, you’ll be at the heart of strategic financial decision-making.
This is a high-visibility role where your insights and leadership will directly shape the company’s financial performance. You'll be empowered to drive operational excellence, streamline processes, and build strong partnerships across functions.
Location: Bergamo, Italy (Hybrid) – with some local travel
Salary: € 50 000 – 55 000
Notice Period: 1 Month or less - this role is needing to be filled asap
What You'll Be Doing
* Oversee and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, general ledger, and monthly reconciliations.
* Lead the end-to-end accounts payable, receivable, and invoicing functions.
* Implement a best-in-class billing and collection process, managing stakeholder relationships with professionalism and tact.
* Monitor and control debtor levels, liaising directly with parents and clients for timely collections.
* Drive procurement efficiency, ensuring compliance with policies and delivering value for money.
* Maintain a robust fixed asset register and oversee acquisitions/disposals.
* Lead the internal controls environment, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
* Manage local cash flow, banking relationships, audits, and tax matters.
* Collaborate with HR on payroll posting and reconciliation.
* Champion the effective use of finance systems – training users and optimising performance.
* Ensure comprehensive insurance coverage for the business at all times.
What We're Looking For
* Several years of finance and accounting experience in a fast-paced commercial environment.
* Deep technical accounting knowledge, with strong IFRS and Italian GAAP experience.
* Meticulous attention to detail with a drive for operational accuracy.
* Fluent in Italian and English (written and verbal).
* Strong interpersonal skills – confident in influencing and collaborating across all levels.
* Resilient, flexible, and able to manage shifting priorities with ease.
* Advanced Excel and strong systems/ERP knowledge (implementation experience a plus).
* Self-starter mindset – proactive, resourceful, and results-driven.
