We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) to join our collaborative project team in Florence, Italy. This role involves partnering with developers to create, develop, maintain, and automate test cases, both manually and within a defined automation framework. The ideal candidate will be innovative, self-motivated, and eager to develop new skills while continuously improving existing abilities. A strong interest in problem-solving, tool development, and hardware/software interoperability is essential. As an integral part of the team, the SDET II will integrate the latest technology into the test infrastructure for our automatic tank gauges and cloud-based applications, while also sharing knowledge about the latest technology and software infrastructure with colleagues. What You Will Do Develop test plans to verify and validate automated tank gauge features. Design, develop, and execute software solutions based on test requirements and technical specifications to ensure quality on our automated tank gauge and related platforms. Create automation execution reports that communicate failed tests and failure points to stakeholders. Integrate automated tests into the make/build process for continuous integration using frameworks such as Jenkins or Bamboo. Monitor automation processes and communicate failures. Support non-functional testing (stress, performance/load, and security testing) with automation and test data as needed. Review and refactor existing automated tests to enhance automation regression technology, ensuring software quality improvement and test efficiency. Communicate test results and highlight potential quality risks. Ensure test automation design is traceable to requirements or user stories, achieving a high level of requirement/test coverage. Collect, analyze, and interpret test metrics, summarizing test data and reporting findings. Basic Qualifications: Experience with test automation frameworks. Experience in a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or Automation Engineer role. Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (Java preferred). Proven ability to write automated test scripts to validate APIs, software functionality, and firmware using tools like NUnit, C++, C#, Junit, TestNG, NodeJS, Java, Python, Selenium, and Python. Experience using Selenium to automate WebUI tests. Good knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems. Familiarity with CI/CD tools (such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Travis). Experience with version control systems such as SVN and/or Git. Understanding of the system development life cycle and Agile software development. Other Qualifications: Knowledge or experience in configuring and troubleshooting hardware is a plus. Experience with hardware single-board computers (e.g., Beagle Bone, Raspberry Pi) is a plus. Experience with TestNG writing assertions, TDD/BDD experience, and electronics fundamentals. Capability to guide SDETs on internal initiatives or act as QA lead for projects.
