Position Summary:
Technical responsible for systems and components product development, working from concept phase and design up to validation and product release for manufacturing.
Suspension Systems Engineer will focus on the design and integration of the suspension and its sub-systems on vehicle.
Main content in the scope: front/rear vehicle suspension for light commercial vehicles
Key Performance Indicators (KPI): on-time development of assigned projects, creating and meeting all specifications and validation requirements and meeting cost/weight/investment/certification targets
Responsibilities:
Governance and definition of technology roadmaps and benchmark state of art review
Feasibility study for concept release and technology definition
Product development process and design for performance, quality and cost, according to legal and project requirements
Work in a cross functional team to develop targets, and execute design and development tasks
Work with the vehicle dynamicists and structural engineers to ensure that the suspension system meets the ride, handling and durability targets
Writing and issuing technical specifications for suspension components suppliers
Establishing targets for cost, weight and functional performance
Defining program timing and key deliverables in support of the overall vehicle program timing plan
Developing DVPs, DFMEAs and Pass/Fail test criteria for these components. Updating these documents with lessons learned and best practices on a continuous basis
Reviewing CAD, CAE & test data to confirm design is meeting targets and compiles necessary documentation to release to supplier for production
Supporting prototype and production vehicle builds as needed
Supporting and participating in system development testing
Management of co-design activity with main supplier
Management of external teams supporting product design
Development and management of specification standards and knowledge management documentation
The qualified candidate will have:
Mandatory
Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
English level: upper-intermediate (English test B2 – First Certificate)
CATIA V5 and 3D software knowledge
Multy Body software knowledge (Adams Car )
Communication skills and ability to engage and correspond with global network of teams, colleagues and interfaces
Understanding of suspension geometry principles, suspension architecture and suspension integration into vehicles
Vehicle dynamics, experience as Multy Body analyst
Detailed knowledge of suspension system and associated component manufacturers
FEA based stress skills are desirable
Ability to write technical specification requirements
Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings, specifications, etc
Ability to lead test and development activities
Ability to read and process test data
Process improvement mindset (lean)
Experience of Agile methodologies for project development
Strongly recommended

5 years working in high-performance automotive or motorsport suspension design and development
Experience of active/ adaptive suspension systems
FMEA experience
Ability to lead test and development activities
Ability to read and process test data
Availability to business trip
Driving licence: up to C preferred
