As a Primary teacher at the Canadian School of Florence you will play a key role in fulfilling our mission to provide a holistic and engaging education to our primary students. Delivering the Canadian (Ontario) Curriculum, you will plan, implement, and evaluate learning opportunities for your students and work with your colleagues in a positive and constructive manner. Teaching and Learning - Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school, ensuring that children are working towards being true global citizens; - Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development plans and growth; - Implement agreed policies and developments; - Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively; - Meet requirements for the assessment, evaluation, and recording of students’ development; - Use the student tracking and monitoring processes to advance children’s learning in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities; - Take responsibility for and contribute to professional development; - Effectively communicate the school's key messages and values, be an ambassador for our school at all times. Planning and Classroom Management: - Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a dynamic learning environment; - Plan, prepare and present lessons that motivate students and that cater to the range of needs and abilities of the students in the class as well as ensuring the course of study follows ministry curriculum guidelines; - Maintain good behaviour management in the classroom, promote a positive attitude to learning; - Offer all students equal opportunities to learn and maintain an environment in which no student is exposed to discriminatory behaviour; - Provide feedback to administrators and parents/guardians on a student’s progress through regular progress reports, meetings with parents/guardians including daily communication when appropriate; - Liaise with colleagues especially the Learning Support Coordinator, DSL and Well-being Lead as and when required; - Be flexible and collaborative when planning and working within the school teams; - Support the life of the school beyond the classroom; - Be committed to participating in co-curricular activities; - Undertake the planning and organisation of day trips within the Primary team as required; - Support all school events such as productions and assemblies. Your profile Education & Training - Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent); - Ontario Teachers’ Certificate or international teaching qualification, in good standing; - Qualified to teach Primary/Junior children; - Native English Speaker. Experience - Minimum of three (3) years’ experience teaching in Primary or Junior grades; - Demonstrates creativity and a passion for teaching and a strong work ethic; - Experience with innovative teaching and learning; - Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and mediation skills; - Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, the academic and co-curricular directions; - Be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students; - Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment; - Commitment to safeguarding and equality; - Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times; - Independent school experience, and coaching/extracurricular experience is an asset.
