We are seeking an Area Manager to join our AU Transportation Operations Management team to support our Brisbane Fulfillment Center and manage transportation yard operations.
The Transportation Area Manager is responsible for managing yard operations in coordination with Dock, Receive and Ship teams to ensure FIFO processing and mitigate Customer Experience impact risks. The ideal candidate has a background in transportation operations, excellent program management skills, and the ability to lead and mentor people. They analyse data and make sound recommendations in an often ambiguous environment. One of the main responsibilities in this role is to standardise and improve processes while analysing and eliminating root causes of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence change at a local (site) and global level.
Shift pattern: Mon – Fri 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and well‑being.
* Partner with site leadership and transportation partners to improve On‑time Arrival and Departure Performance of trucks in and out of yards and deliver high Customer Experience metrics.
* Communicate between multiple stakeholders to streamline the flow of trucks in the yard.
* Accountable for reporting yard performance to the local site leadership, identifying root causes for structural issues and driving resolution with multiple stakeholders.
* Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and implement Lean tools.
* Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring and identifying activities performed.
* Be available for some weekend shifts as needed (the team provides tactical support to Amazon’s fulfillment network 7 days/week).
* Lead, manage and develop small teams.
* Respond to and manage incidents in conjunction with various stakeholders.
A Day in the Life
You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring productivity. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety, maintain quality and shift performance standards, and oversee process improvements within your area. The day is varied, including routine team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement, and wide‑scale operational contingency tasks. You’ll also serve as a role model and mentor to your team.

Basic Qualifications
* Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, and data links.
* Experience building and cultivating relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies.
* Experience working in operations, transportation, supply chain, logistics, or a relevant field.
* Experience in performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques.
* Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
