These solutions must guarantee that the component withstands launch and mission loads, as well as possible re‑entry and impact loads. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liPrepare a Fracture Control Plan at the beginning of the program /li liIdentify Fracture Critical Items during all design phases /li liDefine verification approach (safe life, fail‑safe, low risk) /li liDefine loads exceedance for fatigue load spectrum preparation /li liPerform detailed fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis /li liDefine material characterization tests (fracture toughness, crack growth, stress corrosion) /li liDefine NDI to be performed on components (dye penetrant, ultrasonic, eddy current) /li liDefine defect acceptability for welds and composite materials /li liSupport the Fracture Control board in discussions or alternative approaches /li liDesign and analyze spacecraft structures for manned and non‑manned modules and satellites /li liConduct FEM modelling (static and dynamic) using FEMAP, Patran, HyperMesh /li liExecute structural analyses (fail‑safe, low risk) with Nastran, Ansys, Radioss /li liCarry out detailed verification through fatigue and fracture mechanics using NASGRO/ESACRACK codes /li liPrepare reports (fracture analysis and test reports, fracture control plan, NDI plan, fracture critical item list) /li liSupport structural tests, NDI solutions, Waiver and NCR management /li /ul h3Qualifications Requirements /h3 ul liAt least 5 years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering for aerospace /li liExperience in structural analyses (FEM, static, dynamic) with FEMAP, Patran, HyperMesh, Nastran, Ansys, Radioss, NASGRO, ESACRACK /li liDeep knowledge of damage tolerance standards (NASA, ESA, etc.) /li liDeep knowledge of Space Station System standards for human flight missions /li liExtensive knowledge of metallic and non‑metallic manufacturing processes and material technologies /li liBasic knowledge of CAD and CAM processes /li liProficiency with Nastran, Patran, Ansys, HyperMesh, Femap /li liStrong analytical, synthesis and problem‑solving skills /li liExcellent English language skills (spoken and written); Italian a plus /li liAvailability to work in shifts and support frequent travel and colocation abroad /li liGood teamwork and negotiation skills with space agencies and subcontractors /li /ul h3Education Experience /h3 ul liMaster’s Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering /li liMaster or specific courses in Mechanical Design /li /ul pEmployment type: Full‑time. /p h3Equity and Diversity /h3 pThales Alenia Space is an equal opportunity employer.
