The Position
The group is seeking an experienced Principal Analog IC Design Engineer with deep expertise in power‑management analog design to develop next‑generation PMICs for portable consumer applications. The role includes direct engagement with Tier‑1 OEMs and opportunities for supervisory and mentoring responsibilities.
Responsibilities
General Responsibilities

Work within an analog/mixed‑signal design team based in Catania (Italy), Sophia Antipolis (France), Edinburgh (Scotland), and Newbury (England) sites.
Define and architect high‑performance mixed‑signal devices.
Design IC blocks, transistor‑level circuits, and perform simulations.
Conduct technical presentations to ADI’s internal engineering team and customers.
Use recommended design and verification techniques, tools, and flows to produce efficient designs that meet all functional, power, and timing objectives.
Integrate blocks into larger mixed‑signal systems.
Support other functions such as layout, lab evaluation, and test to ensure successful delivery meeting all requirements.
Continuously improve analog design methodologies to reduce time and cost to market.

Power Design Responsibilities (Core Focus)

Architect, design, and validate high‑performance power‑management circuits, including switching regulators (buck/boost, multi‑mode/multi‑phase, high‑efficiency converters), low‑dropout regulators (LDOs), and charge pumps/related switched‑capacitor converter architectures.
Develop closed‑loop control architectures, compensation strategies, loop‑stability optimization, and transient‑response enhancement.
Drive innovation in ultra‑low‑power, fast‑transient, and high‑efficiency power designs tailored to demanding portable consumer applications.
Collaborate closely with system architects to define end‑to‑end power architectures and ensure seamless integration into complex mixed‑signal SoCs.
Lead power block bring‑up, silicon debug, and optimization to achieve best‑in‑class performance across process, voltage, and temperature variations.

Requirements

Electronic Engineering degree with 10+ years’ experience as an analog/mixed‑signal IC designer.
Deep, demonstrable expertise in power‑management circuit design, including switching regulators, LDOs, charge pumps, and control‑loop architectures (required core competency).
Experience with amplifiers, DACs, ADCs, bandgap, bias circuits, etc., is an advantage.
Strong people‑leadership, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills required to function within a multi‑site cross‑functional team.
Expected to take a full cell or system ownership role and contribute from architecture selection to implementation and debug.
Experience integrating power‑management and analog blocks into complex SoCs or microcontroller systems is a strong advantage.
Some limited travel expected.
